Penlan Isaf is a traditional Welsh farmhouse on a working farm with cattle, sheep and friendly farm cats and dogs. It has a large garden and a children's play area with swings, slide, trampoline and ride on tractors and toys.

The farm overlooks the ancient town of Kidwelly with its magnificent medieval castle and church and has views of the nearby coastline spanning from the Gower Peninsular to Tenby. It is the perfect base to travel from to enjoy Carmarthenshire's many attractions. It is within easy distance of the Pembrokeshire National Park and the Brecon Beacons.

Nearby beaches include Cefn Sidan in Pembrey Country Park, Burry Port Harbour and beaches and Ferryside Beach. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to castles, and of course one of our favourites is Kidwelly castle – one of the best in Wales. Others include Llansteffan castle, Carreg Cennin and Dinefwr castle.

Cycling routes and walking paths are very accessible, with a path to Kidwelly beginning at the farm. Start from the farmyard and follow a circular route along the top, or take the foot path down to the ancient town of Kidwelly and visit the medieval castle and church. While cyclists can join cycle route 4 and travel from Kidwelly to Llanelli, along the old railway track and the Millennium Coastal Path you’ll see beautiful views along the estuary and Burry Port harbour. Ask Peter and Ann for the best routes. Cycle hire at the Ski centre in Pembrey Country Park.

For Pub food, there are some great options within a few miles of the cottages, including The kings Arms in Llansaint, The Red Lionin Llandyfaelog and The Anthonys and The Gatehouse both here in Kidwelly. For the best fish and chips head to The Cabin in Ferryside.
