Seeing Santa

Seeing Santa

19 NOVEMBER 2018 15:00

With just over a month to go until Christmas Day, if you're parents to young children, it's time to start planning that important trip to see Father Christmas.  But you don't have to book a flight to Lapland to see Santa this year, there are plenty of magical encounters to be had right here in Carmarthenshire.

Kids will absolutely love visiting these special places to meet Santa, and telling him all about their Christmas wish list.  Here are a few of our favourites...

Enjoy an Afternoon Tea or Sunday Lunch with Santa at Llety Cynin in St Clears this coming weekend (Afternoon Tea on Saturday 24th November and Sunday Lunch on 25th November).  Why not make a day of it and have a splash around in the swimming pool, a walk in the woodlands and a run around in the adventure playground too!

Mr and Mrs Claus will be in their cozy grotto at National Trust Dinefwr Park waiting for you to come and visit. At the time of writing, all slots on three of the four dates (9th, 16th and 23rd December) are SOLD OUT, but there's  some availability for 2nd December - so be sure to book soon!

Treat the children to a festive trip on Gwili Railway's 'Santa's Magical Steam Trains', available every December weekend, including Christmas Eve. Ride the Steam Train to Santa’s Grottos at Llwyfan Cerrig Station where a heated marquee with an exciting programme of entertainment awaits you - including meeting the important man himself.

Head to Plas Llanelly Houseone of the most outstanding early Georgian Houses in Wales for Breakfast with Father Christmas.  This experience, held each Saturday morning in December, includes a child's breakfast, festive activity, visit by Father Christmas and a gift. (See main image)

Join Santa every Sunday in December at WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre as he takes a break from the North Pole to help feed the birds! This is a magical experience for young and old - don't forget your camera!

Finally, it's the Christmas Pantomimes at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on various dates this December. Enjoy fun-packed frolics in these original seasonal shows with singing, dancing and jokes galore - as well as a chance to meet Father Christmas himself.

Phew! What a busy man Santa is going to be this December! He's going to need a well-deserved break once Christmas is over - perhaps we'll invite him to take a relaxing Winter holiday here in Carmarthenshire!
