If you’ve been following current BBC Wales TV series, Keeping Faith, and have already previously visited Carmarthenshire, you may have recognised the beautiful backdrop for the drama. Carmarthen and the surrounding areas, in particular the town of Laugharne, feature prominently in the series - with Laugharne featuring as the town where Faith lives and works.

Views of Laugharne Castle and the estuary provide a stunning backdrop for the drama, while the high street and Carmarthen town centre can also be seen. You’ll spot many fantastic Welsh actors amongst the cast, including Eve Myles, Mali Harries, Mark Lewis Jones and Matthew Gravelle to name a few. The drama was initially aired on Welsh language TV channel S4C, titled ‘Un Bore Mercher’.

Famously known as the home of writer and poet Dylan Thomas, this isn’t the first time that Laugharne has appeared on our screens. The Edge of love, a film that loosely depicts the life events of Dylan Thomas, was filmed in Laugharne and features Sienna Miller, Matthew Rhys and Keira Knightley. The film included scenes from many parts of South Wales including Swansea, Tenby, Cardigan and Cardiff.

Wales has provided the backdrop to several films and television series’, including Harry Potter and Die Another Day. See how many sites you recognise in this list of filming locations.

Catch up on Keeping Faith on the BBC iplayer.

If you fancy following in the footsteps of Dylan Thomas - and the Keeping Faith actors, then a visit to Laugharne is a must.  With stunning scenery and plenty of options of things to do, spend a day there, or if you fancy a little break, then there are a number of lovely places for you to stay too!
